Because so much information is coming in about Grasshopper Control,
I will keep it all posted here.

Do you have a page with details how to use the Nola bait for grasshoppers?

From:  Siri-Gian Kaur  sirigian@valornet.com

Yes, it is at www.sirigian.com/grasshoppers.html .  Satya Kaur gives good instructions about half way down the page.  But it appears that Nolo Bait should be put out in the early spring when the babies were hatching.  Lots of people used it last year without great results.  Now people are quietly telling me that they are using the poison Sevin that is mixed in a special jar thing that attaches to your hose to water large areas such as your lawn or field.  That jar thing with the Sevin already in it, I understand is available at Lowe’s.

FROM:  Megeath  mama@megaeth.net

Agua Fria Nursery in Santa Fe recommends spraying the leaves of plants (when you first notice grasshoppers munching on them) with the following

mixture:

a tsp of their Organic Neptune Harvest Seaweed Fertilizer a tsp pure soap (laundry or dish) mixed in a gallon of water

So far, the grasshoppers around our house do not like the taste, and have moved on (hopefully to South America)

Satya Kaur, Ram Das Puri  satyak@sikhdharma.org  PROTECTIVE FIELD

FYI setting up the protective field against grasshoppers is a complex process. I had to take at least 3 passes on my own issues to make sure that I was not attracting their energy for any past or present life issues, then I have had to set up different systems for the property and  the house. Ram Das Puri will not put out a magnetic field that repels grasshoppers or anything else. It is willing to nicely ask them to go away or stay away. So I use bioresonant cellular communication channels for that. The house and I have no problem actually creating Morphic field perturbation patterns that cause them to want to be off the property. Each of us uses a different system, and they need to be run every few days.

I can treat people's properties. . I  prefer doing that to trying to teach people how to do it since I cannot teach them the technology I use.

Meanwhile I have about 40 nolobait stations all over the place, inside and out, because all of the energetics will seemingly only impact a certain percentage (grasshoppers are tough and resilient, and not easily deterred so many different methods appear to be required). It feels like a full time job!
Blessings

Here is great information describing the action of Nolo Bait on grasshoppers and how and when to apply it!  http://www.biconet.com/biocontrol/noloinfo.html

Nolo Bait Order
Sat Nam All,   Kartar Singh and I are going to order Nolo bait in bulk and divide it in smaller 1 lb bags for sale.  We don't have the exact price as of yet but it will be  near $10.50/lb  we called some nurseries in Santa Fe and the range seemed to be between   $16- $22.50/ lb so you should save quite a bit.   We need all those who are interested to contact us as soon as possible at 929-1033 or 753-4516  so we can place the order soon and we can get it out on our land when the grasshoppers are small.   Please let your neighbors know also if you plan on using it because the more they put out the less will come to your land.   The good thing is that grasshoppers are canibals and so the ones who survive will eat the infected ones and should die also.   One more thing.  the woman I spoke to said you may want to use 2 lbs /acre to start with if there is a large infestation of grasshoppers.  Normally you only need about 1 lb/acre.  Please call  if you have questions   Thanks and happy gardening this year.

Address for checks is Gurbani Khalsa, 21 Shady La., Espanola, NM 87532

You might pass on that I already found a baby grasshopper the other day!!!

Sat Nam, I just read your garden club article. Thanks for doing this. As far as the tobacco for grasshopper control - I tried this for several years but it wasn't that effective. The nolo bait is good, you just need to make sure to apply it early enough. Handpicking does work too. Another factor that is important to know is that the reason there are so many grasshoppers around Espanola is because of all of the uncultivated land - ideal for grasshoppers to leave their eggs. So the more gardening done the better! If you can, it would be nice to have a forum on your website for comments such as these. I live in Santa Fe and for now don't have regular transportation to make club meetings. Anyway, please add my e-mail address to your list for club announcements.

I called the provider for Nolo bait and got the pricing.   I will talk to Kartar today to see how he wants to order.  I am not sure if you know that if you use nolo bait it is best for your neighbors to use it as well I will ask Guru Meher Kaur to email the sangat a small blurb to let everyone know we will make it available but we need people to let us  know soon.   They recommend about 1-2 pounds per acre so it doesn't take much and the also recommend not to put it near your garden area but in a distant weed area... Anyway I will let you know more.  As soon as we decide to make an order they can ship it UPS the same day.  Thanks so much for putting me on your email list,  hopefully we will have a happy gardening season this year..

A few notes to people about the grasshoppers - they are hatching out  by mid April - the nolobait needs to be in place by mid April since it is most efficient with the babies. This year will not be as severe as last year, but the numbers are still very high, maybe 2/3 of whatever people had last year. Best is to catch them young, once they are full sized (by mid may) there is little you can do beyond kill them by hand and that does incur karmic debt (as I found out).
If you have alot of them, put out feeding stations of nolobait and keep them full, as well as broadcasting.

Cover all plants with row covers to protect them.

If you have nolobait, keep it cool. You can mix it with bran (1:1) to stretch it further but it is only viable for 12 weeks after formulation. Do not apply if rain is expected  and keep it away from exposure to sun. I use large pots laid on their sides and weighted down with stones. An alternative is cans with their ends cut out.

If you do not have nolobait - mix bran with diatomaceous earth (available at Farm Supply) and feed them that. About 1 part DE to 5 parts bran.
I just bought 50# of bran (it was real  cheap that way) and am happy to share - I will only  need about 10#.

On another note for you, I did some work and found out I had Morphic field issues with grasshoppers from a past life as a farmer in the depression,  - because of  vow I made against them, I attracted their energy last year. Cleared that energy - it only reduces their impact by about 25% but I am grateful for anything. Also plan to do weekly sessions establishing a negative Morphic field energy around the place to cause a bit of irritation to them, so they do not feel too welcomed!

I cannot teach the NMT (Morphic Field Technonolgy) to anyone, although I can offer treatments.
I can explain the concept if anyone is interested and ways in which they can work with it that are not NMT. From personal experience the NMT is far more effective than anything I have ever managed on my own with this kind of clearing .

  • Gurbani Kaur is looking into getting a group, bulk, pre-paid order of Nolo Bait.  It is a powder that you sprinkle around your property.  Baby grasshoppers eat this and it destroys their insides.  Then when mature grasshoppers eat the dead ones, the same thing occurs to them.  It’s best if your neighbors do this treatment as well.
  • Mrs. Satya Kaur is looking into the use of tobacco juice, made by soaking chewing tobacco in water.
  • Marshal collects his grasshoppers by hand and destroys them every morning—very organic, but not easy.
  • Guru Prem Kaur has Guinea hens that eat all the bugs in her yard.  Starting May 31, the feed store on this end of Riverside Drive will have baby Guinea chicks for sale for about $5 each.  But be careful that dogs and cats don’t eat the chicks!  Also be sure that your neighbors don’t mind them wandering into their yards.  The folks at the store said the chicks will be big enough to eat the grasshoppers by July when the grasshoppers appear.
